TCSLEA / FOP Representation of Corrections Officers
Updated On: Oct 22, 2012
Did you know, if you are a Corrections Officer and you are a member of TCSLEA, the FOP will not recognize you as a member. They will also not represent you in job related matters. You will have to rely on outside law firms that will represent you for a reduced rate which could cost you thousands of dollars out of your pocket in the end. These law firms also represent all types of clients including criminals. Some have even filed lawsuits against officers on behalf of criminals. (See TCSLEA Exposed on Home Page) So, if you are a corrections officer and a member of TCSLEA, you are not covered.
Much like the Texas Municipal Police Association (TMPA), if you are not a licensed Peace Officer they will not recognize you and believe you should belong to and have your own association. They are adament you will never be a part of their group. They do not believe that you or your job duties will ever be equal to them or theirs. CLEAT on the other hand, believes that service is service no matter if you are assigned to Corrections or Law Enforcement. With TCSOA/CLEAT your fees are covered by your monthly dues and you will not have to pay any additional out of pocket expenses.
